Emotion = Energy in Motion

Emotions are Energy in Motion. Emotions have to move. If they aren’t moving, they are being squished, suppressed, bottled up - and that never leads to healing, it always leads to, what I call, pentupedness. ⠀

Pentupedness = Having become more and more pent up with emotion.⠀

An example of energy in motion, is crying. When you experience an emotion - sadness, grief, joy - and it leads to tears, the movement of those tears dripping down your face is a literal alchemy of Emotion.⠀

It’s a super common, therapeutic and cathartic example of energy in motion.⠀

When we experience an emotion like shame, guilt, sadness, or anger, we might hit, punch or kick - which are also super common, therapeutic and cathartic physical expressions of emotion (depending on how/where/when and with who this expression takes place).⠀

The point is that this energy moving though us and manifesting physically, is exactly what is meant to happen. ⠀
You are not being dramatic, you are not making others awkward, you are human.⠀

And you are letting your emotions do exactly what they’re designed to do.

MOVE!
