Melodic Mantra for Children.
A topic you’ve been asking me about for years! I’ve shared over and over that all melodic mantra is relevant for all humans, regardless of our age, and this is true, but child specific melodic mantra can support little ones to stay engaged, inspire them to create their own melodic mantra and to help us feel more confident about supporting them with this.
Below you will find a short video outlining some of the huge benefits of melodic mantra featuring the song ‘Every Little Cell’ which had it’s moment to fly high in 2020 during the global lockdowns. Whilst this song is officially classed as ‘traditional’, with no clear identity as to who created the parody lyrics, the tune belongs to an African song called ‘Shortnin’ Bread’, culturally significant due to it’s themes of slavery, food scarcity, and the resourcefulness of enslaved people.
When i sang Every Little Cell on a facebook live in March 2020 I had no idea how much this song was bursting to come through, and the impact this one little tune had globally has been astonishing. I continue to receive emails to this day about how this song impacted families in ways we could never imagine.

Why Use Melodic Mantra with Children?
Tips For Using Melodic Mantra with Children
My Melodic Mantra Story…
I first started the practice of Melodic Mantra at a time when I was seriously anxious. From the outside, I seemed to be kicking goals in life, but on the inside I was struggling more that I ever had before, and more than I ever have since.
I was stuck, I felt lost. Then I remembered that I was a Neurologic Music Therapist! And that I knew how to use music strategically in ways that I knew would Totally help me.
So, I started doing what I now call Melodic Mantra.
Very quickly I realised it's power, and noticed a multitude of tiny differences in how I felt. Over time those tiny differences became enormous ones. In fact, the benefits I experienced were significant enough for me to continue the practice, as a form of therapy, until this very day.
Melodic Mantra is still an almost daily part of my life.
It is such a pleasure to share the science of melodic mantra with you, and may this change your own life in tiny and enormous ways. xx
Here is a series of ten melodic mantras created specifically for children. Each of these songs can be sang simply with it’s one main melody, or you might choose to incorporate the harmonies and the rounds. Simple is best when it comes to melodic mantra, there is no need make it any more complex than what feels comfortable. Please feel free to sing these songs with any groups of children you facilitate, with your own children or in your life. My songs are always available to be shared. Enjoy!
Below you will find the replay of our 1 hour webinar where I introduce each of the songs and sing them each with you as a way of learning and practicing each song. I also offer sone insight into the intention for each song, which is a way of deepening your understanding of each song and helping you get to know which situation calls for which song. Please always remember, your singing background, your musical identity and your confidence in your musicality plays absolutely no part in whether you can sing or teach these songs. We are all musical, and you are perfectly qualified to be the person who teaches and sings these songs and all others. :)
